How To Play Telcine

Pay attention, the telcine game is played with a French pack, containing only 32 cards from 7 to ace.

Players

Up to six players can participate in the game

Dealer

The cards are dealt starting with the first active player, sitting next to the dealer, in a clockwise direction.

Ante – The pre-bet

Telcine is played with a pre-bet. Before the cards are dealt each active player is required to place a pre-bet.

Dealing

Every player is dealt two cards, one open and one concealed.
The first card you receive is called the "Hall card" and the other players cannot see it.
This card is marked with a gray background. Afterwards, 3 open additional cards are dealt to each player.
After 5 cards are dealt to each player and the betting round is complete, an additional card is opened in the middle of the table.
This card is called the "Vale' card", or the "Public card", and all the players can make use of it in order to improve their hands.
At this stage the last betting round is opened.

Forced bet

The player who receives the highest card after the dealing is required to make a forced bet (Bring-In), its amount is usually twice that of the pre-bet, or more if the player so desires and if the table limit permits.
In order to determine who carries out the forced bet, if there is a tie in the card value, the identity of the beginner will be determined according to the card symbol (hearts (♥), diamonds (♦), clubs (♣) and spades (♠) – in decending order). After the forced bet (or the bet) the round of betting starts in a clockwise direction.

Order of betting

In Telcine there are 5 betting rounds. The first betting round takes place after each player receives 2 cards.
Afterwards the third, fourth and fifth card are dealt, where a betting round takes place after each deal.
The last betting round takes place after the public card (Vale card), is dealt.

Show-Down – the stage of revealing the cards

If no further bets are made after all the cards have been dealt and the public card has been opened, we reach the stage of revealing the cards so as to determine who holds the winning hand.
The hand that wins the pot is the one composed of the 5 best cards. If two or more players hold the same hand, the pot will be split among them.
If the sum to be split does not lend itself to being divided equally among the winners, the smallest difference will be passed to the player sitting closest to the dealer, in a clockwise direction.
