How To Play Soko
The Soko game is a development of the five card stud game. Soko is also known as Scandinavian Stud or Canadian Stud.
The difference between Soko and five card stud lies in the ranking of the hands.
The dynamics of the games are identical. Initially, each player receives 2 cards, the first card is placed face down.
At this stage a betting round is carried out. Afterwards, an additional three cards are dealt; a betting round is performed after each card is dealt.
Pre-dealing bets (ante) and opening bets are made in this game too.
The dealer button does not give any advantage in this game.
In the Soko game two additional hands join the usual ranking of hands.
As you know, flush and straight are very rare combinations in the five card stud game.
That is why a player with almost such a hand can still win. Straight 4 cards and flush 4 cards are legal hands in the Soko game.
These hands enter the hand ranking between a pair and two pairs.
Therefore, the full hand ranking is as follows (from the lowest to the highest): a high card, pair, 4 cards straight, 4 cards flush, two pairs, a trio, straight, flush, full-house, a quartet, straight-flush, royal flush.
It does not dramatically alter the game, but it adds interesting situations.
